The man giving me my temporary checks at the bank today had an unusual smile and then I saw them, the ceramic braces, and almost scared the shit out of him.
Me: "Can I have temporary checks please?"
Mister: "Yes, ma'am" Smiles
Me: Scrutinizing. Gasps. "You have them too!!!"
Mister: "Umm... wha? excuse me"
Me: "See!!?!" Gives biggest, goofiest smile ever to really showcase the grill.
I was so excited I called two friends and my roommate. I love fellow brace wearers. They didn't understand the magnitude of the moment.
On another random, weird note for today. A stranger stopped traffic, rolled down his window, and asked me if I was a gymnast while I was on campus today. Odd.

Pierced Teeth
Friend: "What's that? Whoa! When did you get those? I thought you pierced your teeth for a second"
Me: "Yeah, it's all the rage now"
Me: "Yeah, it's all the rage now"

Getting to Know Me
18 months is the sentence.
I've been wired up since July 1st, and shockingly time has not stood still, and I haven't become a social leper.
I'm a sophomore in college, and lets just say that braces are not the highlight of my life. Don't get me wrong I'm extremely appreciative that I'm capable of fixing my orthodontic retardations, but in college? Eh. Oh well, suck it up.
At my first adjustment last tuesday the ortho so kindly handed me a sheet of paper stating my malfunctions. I will share them with you right now.
Facial/Profile: Mildly prognathic with chin deviated to the right.
Dental/Skeletal: (the fun one)
1) Class III skeletal patter
2) Severe maxillary/ mild mandibular crowding
3) Mandible deviated to the right
4) Maxillary and mandibular midline deviated 2mm to the right
5) Unilateral posterior crossbite on the right
6) Anterior crossbite tooth number
7) End to end molar relationship on the right
8) Minimal overbite OB = 0.5mm
Treatment Objectives:
1) Align and level both arches
2) Improve overbite and overjet
3) Correct the crossbite
Treatment Plan:
1) Full appliances
2) Monitor for expander and / or extraction
3) Consider orthognathic or genioplasty options (Ok, now imagine my surprise reading this on the paper of doom, and seeing this little sentence right here. Whoa, there homeboy, you didn't mention any form of surgery to a sister. Let's say yours truly is not too thrilled about this 'option' he's throwing on me.)
4) Maxillary Hawley/ Mandibular bonded retainer
After googling a majority of these terms I've come to find out that I am indeed a bigger mess than I intentionally thought. I simply wanted my canine pulled down because it never did wedge its way on through and I've always had this little gap that has really made me self-conscious.
See. Oh, my. 18 months isn't too bad. I can roll with it.
